    Default Dedicated status

So who here have some sort of dedicated hunting or sports shooting status (seems a few should)

How much time and money does it take to keep your dedicated status?

My DFO urged me to get some sort of dedicated status. He is a dedicated hunter and has 16 rifles already.
According to him if you are dedicated the licences come easy.

    I have dedicated hunter status.

The requirements may differ from association to association but generally its not all the expensive to maintain the status. Typically it would involve participation in club shooting activities, maintenance of annual subs, if applicable maybe 1 hunt annually (sure helps license applications) and submission of your annual report to the association

Dedicated Status is not very difficult to obtain if you are a regular shooter and belong to a recognised association. It normally entails earning points and requiring a certain amount of points for the association to grant you this status. You then just have to remain active within the level required by the association to maintain the status. The association then has to report to CFR on a yearly basis regarding their Dedicated Status members.

    I am one.

Thanks. I'll talk to my club and find out if I will be able to maintain such a status.

Decide what will suit your interest better - hunting or sport shooting?

Sport like SADPA (IDPA) will enable you to license nice toys... They cover handgun, shotgun and rifle (like LM's... Ask SSP). While hunting... ag - hunting is just hunting. :o

SADPA specifically has a points system (eg attending a club shoot or league you get 4 points, a classifier 2 points, the Champs 10 points, etc. You need to earn at least 20 points for dedicated status and need to earn 20 points p.a. to retain your status.)

The idea is not to make it impossible to achieve the status, but to reward an active shooter. These criteria is very achievable.

And Oh No! I'm not boosting SADPA... ::)

DS is easy to get and keep, and well worth it.

I totally agree to this regarding IDPA and IPSC (can't comment for other). It is not dificult to obtain and in obtaining it and keeping it current also insures you get some trigger time that ensures your shooting skills remains good....

If I have dedicated status, would it be possible for me to keep my Vektor and purchase a Glock 26 ?
Do I have to specify which one I use For sport and which I use for Self defence?

Provided you don't have any other pistols you can have both without DS.

You have to specify but you can use either for any lawful purpose, including sport and SD.

You can also licence the 26 for BUG in IDPA.
