    Default Nikon Rifle Scopes

    Hi guys,

Looking for some experience and or knowledge from the experts ;-)

I am looking to buy a scope for my .303 (Amajuba Kettie), I have the following options can get a Nikon (3-9 x 40) in two ranges, Pro Staff - R1500 and Filedmaster - R2500. How do these compare and will the cheaper scope be adequete for regular application, small and medium game hunt in the bushveld at 75 - 150m?

    Obviously a Lynx 3-9 x 38 also a option but for R2300 - R2800.

Any experiece with a Nikon? Feedback appreciated.

    Hilux01,

why don't you have a look at Zimbi Books and Guns, they're currently offering a Leupold VX1 3-9x40 for R2395

Otherwise, you could also possibly look at Redfield (i believe they're manufactured by Leupold?) and would be a lot cheaper than either? unfortunately, i cant offer a comparison between the Nikon, Leu, or Redfield :(

The VX-I sounds like the best option...
BTW, Redfield got bought out by Leupold, so still in own factory but under the watchfull eye of Leupold...

After a lot of homework and long discussion with experts like Hendrik van Rensburg from Safar and Outdoor Stellenbosch I decided on a Nikon 3-9x40 (Fieldmaster). Had it fitted yesterday and need to have a go with it on the range.

Anybody know a range near Witbank I can use as a non-club member?

While we on the subject, is that VX-1 good enough for a heavy recoil rifle ? Like a .416 Ruger ?

I have read mixed reviews of Nikon scopes, but it seems the higher priced models mostly do well. Everyone has a budget...even Bill Gates...but glass is not the place to compromise. Good luck with your Nikon!
