I have a Spyderco Tenacious that I carry at the moment, but I will be switching to the DPx HEST Folder as soon as they land.

This I think is the same as asking what "brand" of pistol to buy? I guess it's what you like personally. Also, I think you get what you pay for ? I use a CRKT Drifter (one handed folding and unlocking is useful with this knife) as a general carry. It is small and relatively cheap (so me thinks at least). Perhaps a bit too small - but ideal as a utility knife. But as said, it depends on it's purpose. I also have a Pohl fixed blade which I carry on my boots if i have them on the day(tek lock works nicely with my boot's straps on the side :)

I run a Spyderco Civilian right side and a SOG Aegis left side.

The Civilian is very light and flat for its size and offers tremendous slashing ability.

The Aegis works well for everyday tasks. And the assisted opening makes sense to me for weak side carry. Especially if it were pressed into service as a weapon with shaky hands on my already less dextrous side.

The correct answer is it depends...
If I have only one then I prefer CRKT (LH) with a Tanto blade.
If I have two then I like the Pohl Force (LH) and TOPS Scorpion (RH).
The permutations are endless... that is why it depends.

The answer is all of the above.

No one else carries your blade and uses it for you, so little experimentation is in order;) Try get to a well stocked shop and try (as in hold, feel, open & close) as many knives as catch your fancy. Find the one that sits in your hand the best, fits your pocket (in both ways) and once you've bought it train, train and train some more ;)

Simple solution. Spyderco with Emerson wave opening hook.
    Light flat and easy out.
