IPSC Open Day - Bloemfontein - 11 June
The Free State Practical Shooting Association will have an open day on the 11th of June 2011 at our shooting range just outside Bloemfontein. People who want to participate in the events will have to pay R100. This fee includes shooting various different firearms for prizes, lucky draws and a hot dog.
If you bring your own licensed gun and ammunition, you can try your hand at a real IPSC course.
Food and drink will be on sale during the day.
A cash bar will be available for the braai after prize giving. Braai packs will also be available.

Re: IPSC Open Day - Bloemfontein - 11 June
Thanks for putting up the ad shooter.
Anyone interested in firearms should try their best to attend this, this is going to be very informative and a lot of fun. Even if you do not own a firearm you are welcome to attend. We will also advise the public on which firearms to buy for SD and sport and there will be someone to help (after the shoot) with motivations etc. We are also looking at starting airsoft leagues for those waiting for their licenses.
---------- Post added at 11:40 ---------- Previous post was at 11:31 ----------
Just to clarify, we wont be assisting with motivations after the shoot, the person who helps all of the club members with their motivations will be present. Have a chat (and a beer) with him after the shoot.

Re: IPSC Open Day - Bloemfontein - 11 June
Back when I was still a member of the Bloemfontein Practical Shooting Club (97/98 I think), we organised a similar event. It was very well received and attended by members of the public, and we gained quite a few members from it.
Worth while effort, hope all goes well. Good luck!!
Regards.

This is a good initiative. I hope your range dries up, or that you can turn it into a SEAL-shoot ;o)

Preliminary program for the open day. Please get the most up to date program at reception on the day :)
Welcome at the Open Day of Bloemfontein Practical Shooting Club: 13 August 2011, 11:00
We hope you that you will enjoy this day with us and derive the value from what we intended.
Please report to reception first!
Please do NOT under any circumstances handle your firearm, unbag, unholster or load your firearm without a range officer directly giving you permission to do so. Range Officers are identified by their red caps, and will gladly assist you on a range or in the safety area.
You will find the club rules on the reverse side of this page.
Subject to BPSC safety rules your entry ticket gives you access to all activities on all ranges (except the "Printer shoot up") for the first time, one chance in the lucky draw, one Lucky Shot ticket and one boerewors roll.
Extra / individual tickets can also be purchased.
We have set up four Internationally approved ranges to demonstrate the sport and provide you with the opportunity to test your proficiency with your firearm. This is the IPSC competition for the day and medals will be
given for each range. Today medals will only be given to visitors and not to existing members of the club. Your chance to get a medal is thus significant.
The competition is ongoing from 11:00 to 17:00 and results will be displayed on a large board at each range. The results will be updated continually. You can take part more than once in the competition by buying a score card at reception for only R10-00 per card per range.
The day is not just to compete, but for fun too. Ten other activities are set up where you can shoot with different weapons. Some ranges require your own gun, but at most a weapon will be supplied. On the fun shoot 1-
3 test your accuracy with your own weapon, shoot a row of steel plates with a .22 and shoot silhouette animals with a pellet gun. Fun shoot 4-7 start with a bow and arrow, thereafter test your one hand accuracy with a pellet gun, grouping with a .22 rifle and speed with a Walther pistol. On fun shoot 8 you shoot for a prize at a moving target (everybody is a winner today!) And at fun shoot 9 get rid of your Epson printer frustration with a
shotgun.
Challenge your pal on fun shoot 10 and see who's last plate falls first. On the Crony range your bullet velocity can be tested. Results will be displayed, as at the competition ranges, and medals will also be given at
the prize giving for these activities.
Tickets to take part again in any of these activities can be purchased at R10-00 per activity, except for the
Lucky Shot that is R20-00 and the Printer Shoot up that is R25-00. Each extra ticket purchased gives you another chance in the lucky draw. Prepaid cards for food and drinks are offered at R30, R50 and R100. It
an be used for cool drinks and boerewors rolls throughout the day and at the bar in the clubhouse after 17:00.
The tickets are only valid for today and the remaining blocks are not refunded. The fires are lit around 17:00
and braai packs will be sold at R35. Cutlery and salad will be provided. The prize giving will take place from 18:00 at the clubhouse. Winners must be present to receive prizes.
Several lucky draws are held from 18:00 where you can win great prizes. So please enjoy some meat, drink and nice atmosphere around the fire until you too win a prize. Toilet facilities are available at the clubhouse. Ask for the key at reception.
