Re: binoculars
I have a pair of these

Have been using them the past 4 years and no complaints.
Reasonably priced and definitely waterproof DAMH

Re: binoculars
Last year I bought a pair of Leupold Mojave binocs. They're super clear. Maybe a bit expensive, but I looked at it as an investment.

Re: binoculars
I have a pair of bushnell legend 10x42 and they are awesome.
Have seen some fairly hard graft in the bush and have never given any hassels.
Look they not Zeiss or Swarovski but they pretty good!

Re: binoculars
Keegan, for hunting you should look at Roof prism binoculars, as they are more compact and thus easier to carry. Look at something in the range of 8 to 10 magnification, any more and it gets very shaky.
Then, if you are prepared to spend a bit more, make sure it is waterproof and fogproof. When hunting in cold winter months, the last thing you want is foggy binos!
The bushnell H20 and Legend are both very good choices.
I bought the Excursion EX 10x42 the other day, but more for birding than hunting.
A very good one for its price is the Nikon Monarchs!

Re: binoculars
I love Steiner for the fact that you set it up for your eyes & there after you don't have to focus for near or far. nice & quick to find a target.I like thwe idea of Vortex's 2x adapter for their bino, doubler turns a std 8x bino into a 16x spotting scope if you need to get a good look at something. I like the option without having to haull a spotting scope through the veld...On the other hand, if you have the money, buy Swarovski, they are in a class of their own. (+/-R12k last I checked)RgdsSvN

Re: binoculars
Hi, I have just bought a pair of LEICA 10x25 (pocket size). they are Super-clear and fairly light (I walk quite a bit so I like all my stuff to be as light as possible). I am off to Namibia for a hunt at the end of June, so I'll put them to the test, but comparing to the old TASCO that I have used so far I'm sure that they will be great. not cheap, but IMO worth the expense.
Brgds,
Danny

Re: binoculars
Bushnell Legends are good - as are the Pentax roof prisms. However the Bird and Birding magazine did a comparative test in January and the Lynx and Kowa binos were rated top of all those tested below R8 000. Avoid Nikon Monarchs - they have poor eyepieces and they crack easily. If you do have them - they can be replaced by metal ones which solves the problem - but why buy something knowing its going to give problems later - probably in the bush far from the dealer.
