    Ahh fantastic, all the best. Can't wait for this thing to get approved, bought a rifle that's been in storage for what seems like forever.. Can't wait to go shoot it.

    hahaha I have been checking these topics for longer than I am a member on this site...

    You feel relieved when yours is approved/over however it is sad to see how others sit in the same boat as you did... the frustration is unreal especially if your app is one of the slow moving ones.

    Handed in a further competency this morning! Let the wait begin (again!) Is the waiting time for further competency any different? Still angry with myself about not doing all at once! If anybody is ever planing on doing competency do them all and get it done with!

    On a side note! Dealing with Lyttelton DFO is a pleasure! Simply walked in, was immediately asked how I could be assisted, shown a seat and was helped. 20 minutes later I was on my way with a smile on my face! Hats off to officer Maseko! His words to me were that if anybody walks out without a smile, then the service was not up to standard!

    @Bushcourt,

    Greetings ,

    nope unfortunately not some wait a couple of months others over a year, my further competency was approved after 383 calendar days on the 15th of June 2022. Definitely 100% YES do all of them once off, if you can. I'm glad you have a caring and hardworking DFO, that is unfortunately not the case everywhere.

    Anyways give him a call in 4 to 6 weeks to get your reference number that starts with a C and you would be able to track the progress of your application via the SAPS website or the following apps on your phone, with that reference number and your ID number. All the best.

    SAPS website: Services | SAPS (South African Police Service)

    Google Play Store: Where's My App - SAPS Gun Licence & Competency - Apps on Google Play

    iPhone App Store: Pew-Pew on the App Store (apple.com)
