My problem here is, I applied for bolt action + handgun and competency certificate only says Handgun, as if that is not a big enough WTF, my fiance and I applied on the same day hers is now on 220 calendar days and still in process for consideration since mine was in process for consideration.

Does anyone know what the correct story with regards to the actual validity of competency certificates are?
The DFO in Kempton told me they are valid untill the expiry of the last licence that was issued. The DFO in Roodepoort told me no it is only valid for 10 years.

Your competency is valid for 10 years and needs to be valid if you want to re-license or purchase a new firearm.

I live in Kempton and can confirm not only does the DFO say this, this is actually how they operate. When one applies for a new license, they are valid until the expiry of the last license that was issued

It is disturbing that they cannot get something as simple as this right. How difficult can it be for CFR to issue the rules once and for all.
