Importing of Guns from the USA
Thanks for takeing the time to read this. I have had a look at several sites in USA selling guns and shipping to the dealer of your choice.
What is the cost and the process that goes with it???
Eg. Gun cost you $700.00 @ R7,00 = R4,900.00
What are the addisional cost that comes ontop of that. Is it worth the effort to import? Can you import? Is the saving really that big?
Happy hunting.

Re: Importing of Guns from the USA
Welcome!
Pls pop over to the intro thread to introduce yourself!
Its a bloody mission to get export papers in most instances, even for dealers.
Best to source it locally, if its available. Quicker and most likely cheaper, after all the taxes/duties etc have been added on.

Re: Importing of Guns from the USA
I doubt that a dealer in the USA will be interested to sell and export a rifle and go through the hoops of getting an export permit for one customer in SA if he can just as easy sell it there without any hasles.

[/COLOR]You can use an exporter in the US, trying to do the same thing from the US right now, but iport is to Europe. Try contacting Questars he can probably help you. As for the South African side, I don't have a clue, but exporting is easy enough. Remember that shipping is very expensive due to security. I pay R4000 per shipment out of SA.

While we don't have the greatest variety of guns here, you just might find it locally, what do you what to import?

Re: Importing of Guns from the USA
I've not been able to find a dealer to import a gun for me from the US. Not because they can't, but it takes a lot of effort and the margin is too low. They prefer to work with bulk shipments, because the amount of paperwork is the same.
It's the kind of problem that goes away if you can throw enough money at it, so it's feasible for rare and expensive pieces. Collectors' doubles, etc.

Kalahari arms have been extremely helpful with exports for me. It will pay off for them in the long run which I think they know. Good business minds, try them.

Re: Importing of Guns from the USA
I was watching a show on Discovery last thursday, The guy took a M16 and a shotgun and mounted them together for the local swat entry team. He charged them $3000 with all the mods.
$3000 = R20 200. Try that here what happens, RIP OFF.
