So the knife is as finished as it will get for now. If it survives the counter poaching course I'll give it some good finishing touches. Hadn't gotten around to hardening it, as I am currently in the middle of 3rd year engineering exams. So it won't hold a edge very well, but I doubt it will break. It only needs to get me through next week. The handle is wrapped with some cheap gutted camping rope from Mr price sport. The wrapping technique was copied from my CRKT N.E.C.K. knife. A friend of mine is quite handy with a sewing machine and made a nylon sheath for me. I still have to get around to sharpening it properly. The blade length is about 150mm and total length is 270mm.

Hope you guys like it. I'm willing to take orders, I'll accept ammo as payment

Reminds me of the knife the guy made in the movie "The Hunted".

Nothing quite as satisfying as testing and using your own creations :-)

What are your thoughts on protecting it against rust in the long term?

PS. what does the anti paching course involve?

I haven't really thought of that yet. I'm open to ideas.

About the counter poaching, here the info that was given to us:
You will work in squads of 3 that forms part of a larger group/team of 15 members training all the aspects described in the following paragraph. Training procedures shall be done using MR1 spider paintball rifles, 2 way radio communication, 1: 50 000 topographic maps and backpacks containing specified equipment as if you are in an actual real life situation.

The following aspects shall be taught; navigation (day and night), anti-tracking, hides (where you camp, sleep & eat), caches, doglegs, RV’s (rendezvous procedures), patrols, camouflage & concealment, attacking & defending procedures, self defense, intelligence gathering procedures.

    nice blade,congrats.
i would have hardened the blade though,i feel that no matter what a knife looks like it's not a cutting tool until it has been hardened.no soul.but that's just me.
next time you decide to try forging, use fire/refractory bricks, these will retain heat better.
google 1 brick forge, this will also help.
