    Default Walther P 22 as a self-defence weapon for a female?

My girlfriend needs to purchase a self-defence weapon as she runs her own business and handles fair amounts of cash on a daily basis coupled with the fact that her business operates in a less than safe area. Her experience with handguns is decent as she regularly accompanies me to the range and shoots my glock 22.She handles the firearm well but would be better off with a more compact weapon for everyday carry. Her preference is glock as she is extremely comfortable with them but the price factor is a concern.Ideally, she would love a G 26,but we have been looking at the Walther P22 purely for its size and price.I think that with the right ammo[cci stingers],it would be a suitable s/d weapon for her.it is highly concealable on her-she is about 1,6 m tall and weighs around 48 kg,has decent[10] capacity and would be ultra-controllable ito recoil.

What are your opinions on this weapon as a s/d gun for her/any female?Any other suggestions?

I have an aversion to mouse guns, and lately, anything not service sized.

If she is able to handle your 22, i'd look for a 19 or 26. Rather wait a few extra months than get something now that is not entirely suitable.

my man i would not get a .22 for SD if i were her! I have seen a robber take a .25 to the face and go on to shoot the house owner with his 7.62 tokarev. Some people say .32 min for SD. I say 9mm Luger min for SD. If she can Handel your .40 then she would have no problem with a g26 9mm. Rather save up or look a second hand compact 9mm. But it must be said that the 22 is better than nothing. The 22 is a excellent recreational caliber and ammo is cheap. Bear in mind that a .22 hp might not have enough penetration.

tx guys lv29 lv29 lv29-i share your sentiments.i also feel that a 9mm should be the minimum when choosing a s/d weapon.i firmly believe that 2/3 well placed 9mm jhp's would be more readily efficient than 10 rds of .22 especially when you consider the attacker's adrenalin etc.guess i just have to keep on looking for a reasonably priced g 19/26......which is easier said than done!

Agree on the above posts, I would also look at nothing less than a 9mm (absolute minimum). There are other options as opposed to the G26, maybe have a look for the Taurus Millenium series in 9mm, decent, compact pistol and cheaper than a Glock.
Otherwise I'll speak to a friend, I think he may have a G26 available, will find out the price.

All of the Milleniums I have shot, handled or heard of have been horribly unreliable, from light stikes to FTF, FTE etc.

sell your g friend buy the extra glock for yourself! ;D
I am studying an awesome brand of leg fighting which was inspired by dung beetles and I think my brand of Kraft Manure is superior to all other styles ever invented. Furthermore I challenge all other manurists to a rolling contest where we shall establish whose manure ball is the biggest! I shall call it Honest Kraft Manure and declare it superior to all other brands of manure and will tell you that I have claimed the lineage directly to Imshi the great Dragon Kru Master Beetler who invented manuring, by gathering all manure from different animals together and making it work as the worlds most effective fertilizer. I proved myself by being members of not one but three super elite special gardening departments who were responsible for spreading manure to combat weed infestations!
