Default Dedicated sport shooter or dedicated hunter status?

I was just wondering I currently own 4 firearms which is the maximum one can own without certain classifications. I like most people I know want more guns. My question is if I get Dedicated Sport Shooter status does this allow me to have more firearms then the maximum of 4 allowed? Or do I also have to go and do the Dedicated hunters Course at SA-hunters before I can own more than 4 firearms? Put it this way I want another pistol as a backup. And I would also like more rifles for various types of hunting.

I am in the same boat. I'm going the Dedicated Sport Shooter route.

Tomato-Tomato.... (As I read that, I realize it doesn't really translate that well in writing, but you get what I'm saying...I hope.)

I've read of dedicated hunters getting a handgun licence approved under section 16 because of their dedicated status, and I've also read dedicated sports shooters who got licences for rifles. I really don't think it matters that much (I might be wrong).

Personally I would go the sport shooting route, but probably because I don't hunt...so...

Just because you have a DS of one type or another does not mean that you will get your other guns. You have to motivate them and they must be endorsed by your association.

Most credible associations don't just hand out DS. You actually have to participate, and so you should.

Ok so say I go the DSS route (which by the way I'm leaning towards) and I buy another hunting rifle, how do I motivate for that specific hunting rifle. Should I motivate that I will be using it for sport instead of hunting or can I say I will be using it to hunt with?

Other question than as well, would it be possible to obtain a LM5 as well if I already have a pistol for DSS(after completeing said competency)?

Under Section 16 of the act you can have as many firearms of whichever type so long as you can motivate for them, so in short, yes, you could get your LM.

As to what kind of firearms will be endorsed by your association, that will largely depend on the type of sport shooting your association does, eg. a long range shooting association might not endorse a new semi-auto pistol, for example...

Stupid Question but are these Either OR, can't you have dedicated sport & hunting & motivate the Firearm under witch ever it is best used for?

That would probably be best, but like it was said... you have to actually participate.
