Why Carry Concealed?

Good Evening.

Please excuse my ignorance and lack of knowledge in this department.
I do know that one has to carry your weapon concealed, but why the big thing about it.
I never really understand all the posts where members comment on the way they carry and all the holsters that you can find.

Is it because you dont want to make it public that you carry? And why?

Please could someone shed some light on this matter?

I really appreciate the info from this site, it is very informative.

The law requires that your firearm is concealed in public.

Carrying concealed gives you the element of suprise and makes the criminal less likely to simply execute you at the start of the attack.

And makes you less likely to be a target simply for your gun.

The fuss about the holsters not only has to do with concealment but also comfort, accessibility and ease of the draw.

Part of the fuss will also be the effectice draw from concealment

Another reason is when your employer is anti-gun. The only colleagues who know I carry are female. The men don't hug me. Most management is male, and female management would consider it beneath their dignity to hug me.

a visible gun only draws attention to yourself (gawking, possible bias, criminals), which defeats the element of surprise.
if a person carries a gun to impress people.... he should rethink his decisions.
