Default Suggestions on club shoots accommadating rifle/shotgun

    Hi All

As our 3 gun membership in SADPA increases, and we are faced with the dallema on how to accommadate these shooters while not limiting the opportunity of our pistol only shooters to participate in matches.

In other words how do we keep everyone happy?

Well I think PDPC have found the answer. Ross thanks for agreat day - very well run asalways! Attended thier most recent shoot which was a 2 gun shoot - hand gun 4 stages, in the morning followed by 2 rifle stages in the afternoon. These were adaptions of the handgun stages of the morning. This is something which is easy to do with the new half size SADPA targets.

My suggestion is that clubs look to do the same going forward, and provide members with rifles/shotguns the opportunity to shoot these on the same day, after the pistol match. I suggest that they make 3 stages after the pistol match as either rifle or shotgun - not both, so not a 3 gun match. Can alternate each month one month shotgun, the next rifle. This setup also allowed us to finish at a reasonable time - unlike traditional 3 gun matches which tend to be very long days on the range!

    Try it, it works!

GG, thanks for the positive feedback.

CDPC are also running the 2 Gun format for monthly club shoots. It is easy to adapt a couple of stages to the long gun being used and doesn't take the whole day to shoot.

PDPC is going to alternate, handgun & rifle with handgun & shotgun on a monthly basis, to allow members more opportunity to drive the long guns and to make motivations for long guns easier.
He is best who is trained in the severest school! Fear no man.
