    Default First batch of biltong

I hunted an impala this weekend and with the help of a friend who has done it before made my own biltong for the first time last night.

We used Crown National biltong spice and vinegar, 2 hours soak turning every 30 mins and now the meat is happily hanging in my garage.

I cannot wait to taste it, smells so good!

Quite rewarding doing everything yourself. Hopefully it will taste good.

    cheers

Luke, that is the only spice that I'll use. Been using it for many years. Quick to use and very nice. Enjoy!

Well done, also good and quite satisfactory to do your own processing.

What vinegar did you use Luke? I find red grape vinegar works very well. For my wors I substitute 50% of the vinegar with Worcester sauce.

Cool well maybe ill experiment a bit for the next batch, as for the vinegar it was standard brown spirit vinegar.

Congrats, I hope it comes out just great. What did you do with the Wors? Bones?

I've been making my own biltong and wors and.... for the last 21 years, you will never be sorry for teaching yourself this new skill. I also use Freddy Hirsch, brown vinegar diluted with 50% water, lay over night.
