    Good morning Bismarck
Yes it's a Israeli K98 Mauser that I applied for. Bought it from Classic arms on their auction last year. Best of luck when did you apply for your competency?

Thanks Pilot26,.well i applied for it on 2020-10-12,.it took a month before it moved to Pro-Dfo,.then moved to Competency Section on 2020-12-10,.still there though.
Any chance you took it to the range while awaiting the license perhaps?

Phoned my DFO today to make an appointment to submit new FA license application, he informed me that due to the Amnesty workload they wont take any appointments for new FA's before mid Feb, only amnesty and renewals. So add another unnecessary month to the already 7month+ waiting times we have. I however must say my DFO and his team have always been friendly, accommodating and to my knowledge efficient.

Lets hope CFR improves, feedback telephonically is that they are working at 50% staff capacity.

So what I heared was correct:
    Re: Competency certificates: Waiting time

My competency was more or less a month at that stage.

However, BIG however and might be fake news - Heard that SAPS is overwhelmed and only doing things relating to the "Muh Amnesty". Again I have to state might be fake.

    Thanks Bismarck

Unfortunately I haven't taken it too the range, because I'm in Pretoria and the Mauser is in witbank it's so far to drive just to get a few rounds in. But I'm definitely taking it out once the license is approved and the card is printed. I think it's going to be a long wait still phoned today and heard that my application was only sent to CFR on the 9th of December 2020. You should have your competency before I have my license. I haven't seen my rifle in person so I will have to get back to you on what is stamped on mine. Where did you buy your Mauser? Is it also an Israeli one?
