Tenifer and diamond like carbon coatings on firearms
I know with the Glocks they harden the slides etc with a process called Nitriding, it seems like quite a complex process and only really works with metals that contain strong nitride forming elements such as aluminium, chromium, vanadium and molybdenum.
secondly I know that In the USA there are companies that can do diamond like coatings on all metal firearm componants by putting a 7/8micron thick layer of industrial diamond coating on firearms, and therefore theoretically can make any firearm just as hardcore as the glocks with regard to wear and corrosion.
does anyone on the forum know of such processes that can be done? and are they available in RSA???
here is a link to a site talking about a Bhp that had the diamond coating done, good before and after pics: http://www.thegunzone.com/diamond_like_coating.html
