Cop kills himself and family without firearm

A Warrant Officer whose firearm was taken away from him because of his violent conduct locked his family in their home and set fire to it. He killed himself by slitting his throat with a knife and the rest of the family perished (three daughters and his wife) as a result of the fire. It just shows that a person who is desperate to kill will use whatever means necessary.

My thoughts exactly, i had to read that twice to make sure i didn't read something wrong.

That is even more hardcore & twisted than the old Japanese tradition of killing yourself by slitting you stomach open.

Knives are actually the weapon of choice in homicide, at least in the Western Cape:

“The knife was the weapon of choice.” Knives and other sharp instruments were used in 1 069 murders.
Firearms were the second most commonly used murder weapons. In about an eighth of murders, other instruments, including cars, were used.

Guys we need to be careful of the things we say in cases like this. Yes this is a FA forum and we bitch and moan about the restrictiveness of gun laws, but that is quite a different issue.

We don't know what it was to walk in this guy's shoes. He must have been very troubled. It's wrong on many levels but have a little respect and remember that we are in no position whatsoever to judge the guy.

RIP to this family and condolences to their loved ones.
