Default Webley 38 with "War Finish" stamp in working order

Hi, my father is wanting to sell a Webley 38 revolver. It is in good condition, still in working order, and has "WAR FINISH" stamped on the side. Any info on the history of this firearm or its value also apreciated. Any offers please email me wayne@cvprop.co.za or call 0845050678.

The Webley 38 Mk4 in war finish is worth around R600

At the end of theFirst World War, the British military decided that the .455 calibre gun andcartridge was too large for modern military use, and decided (after numeroustests and extensive trials) that a pistol in .38 calibre , firing a 200-grain bullet, would be just as effective as the .455 for stopping an enemy.Webley& Scott immediately tendered the .38/200 calibre Webley MkIV revolver.

Many thanks for the info, so I guess I should accept the R2000 I have been offered

Indeed. Classic Arms have been selling "Webley repair kits" at their auctions -- basically everything that can be stripped off a Webley before destruction.

OTOH with them destroying so many of them maybe they'll be worth a bit more in future.
