    Default Cleaning your Revolver

When cleaning your cilinder/ejector rod well and sprung pin, what lubricant should one use? Is copper compound a little excessive, maybe a thickish oil such as Ultima Lube by Wilson Combat or will a light oil such as Q20 sufice?

    Elaborate a bit more, please.

Lube / oil is not used for cleaning and normally heavy oils (heavier than Slip2000EWL etc.) or grease have no place around a revolver, but I am not quite sure what you are asking here (?)

Sounds like he is asking what oil to put on after the cleaning process.
Q20 with a wipe down is what I do in that area.

    Hi FNC

I am new to revolvers - so I cannot give you mich advice specific to them.

I can however answer one of your questions directly: WRT copper compound like greases, from what I understand these are not so much lubricants as they are a means of preventing two metal parts from "freesing" to each other in the presence of galvanic interaction, like spark plugs in internal combustion engine heads might do. So from that perspective - I would say that copper compounds are not the way to go.

Lithium and Molybdenum (which are lithium greases with Moly added) greases are far better lubricants, and the choice of which depends on the application.

Apologies, what i meant was, after cleaning, what lube to use in the cilinder/ejector rod well. So, Q20 seems to be good enough. Thanks for the explanation Sweet.

    Hi FNC

Q20 or similar gun oil, and very little at that. Too much will attract gunk like unburned powder flakes and similar residue building up and need to be de-greased often. I use Brian Enos' grease only on the arm of the yoke that allows the cylinder to ''spin''. Even a little oil is probably too much. There is no friction on those parts as with a pistol slide moving backwards and forwards at high speed on slide rails. Those internal parts won't rust either and if they did rust, your revolver has bigger problems.
