    Default Zebra Hunt

Do you guys think that a 200gr .429" bullet (monolithic hollowpoint Barnes XPB) launched at 1500 fps is sufficient medicine for Zebra? OR should I use a 300gr Frontier CMJ at about 1400 fps?

I prefer the heavier bullet on heavy animals. Zebra's can be notoriously tough! I shoot 312gr when hunting Eland.
He is best who is trained in the severest school! Fear no man.

I've still got a couple of 300gr Highland factory rounds (6 left & can't find any more) @ 1450 fps (which have worked on everything to date), so will just stick with them.

My son will only take the shot if the circumstances are ideal and he is comfortable with the shot, otherwise it will be up to me with my 220 gr 30-06. Roll on the weekend!

    What weapon is this please.

However, that said, your 220 grainer out of the Dirty-oh-sex is well within the parameters you require.

I would go for the premium (BarnesX) 200grainer, at 1500ft/s you will get serious penetration.

Update, I tested the 200gr Barnes XPB's today; average 1690fps, no pressure signs & still 1.5gr off maximum of an equivalent powder, nice gentle recoil too!

    Shooting a Ruger M77/44 with 18" barrel!
