Bushveld Hunting - Bush very thick in Ellisras area (April 2009)

I just came back from a Hunting trip in the Ellisras area over Easter... (April 2009)

The Bushveld is very dense this year and there is still a lot of water in the veld resulting in very difficult hunting conditions.
This must be the most dense I've seen the Bushveld in many years...
I spent 4 days hunting Impala and Warthog

Difficult Conditions
-- You can barely see where you are stepping, so expect snakes
-- Stalk Hunting produces more noise than usual as you are walking through tall grass
-- You first see the Impala horns and then the head and very little body..
-- Driving by Vehicle produces very little results in thick bush
-- Animals visit watering holes less often, so Bowhunters may se see very little on farms with lots of water in the veld...

My advise? Make sure you only start hunting in the Bushveld in early June...

Here by me in Thabazimbi its a diffrent story.Its very dry and the hunters that i had took 2 wildebeest, 4 warthogs,1 impala for the first weekend and the others took 2 wildebeest,1 blesbok , 1 impala....

And enjoyed the stay.
