Kudu 48inch +
Afternoon all,
Need some information pls. Just got invited to hunt a Kudu bull of minimum 48 inches, with 50+ inch bulls on the property, just need to find them..... This falls into trophy category from what I know. My question thus is what is general trophy prices for Kudu bulls of this nature? Scanned the web and found mostly dollar based pricing running from +-R10000 and up for high 40 inchers and up Kudu bulls.
Pls advise soonest as I need to confirm if I am taking up the offer!

Re: Kudu 48inch +
Hi B3,
Throphy category, in my opinion, is a heated discusssion. My opinion is that a "trophy" is the minimum requirement to make it into the Rowland ward book which is 53 5/8". So IF your Bull falls into that category I would be happy to up to R9000 for the Bull, But not more. If I had the option to shoot a gauranteed 58"+ Kudu I would pay up to R11k.
But do not see the point in paying R10k for a 49" bull.

Re: Kudu 48inch +
Wismit,
Would you mind saying which area this is? My hunt is close to Jhb, within an 60-80 minutes drive, no day fees, etc. Farmer needs to lower the volumes of a few species. Kudu bull sounded interesting at R7k for what my pricing history has been over the last few years. Maybe you are sitting on the jackpot of Kudu bulls for that matter or is it the going rate in this area you hunt?

Re: Kudu 48inch +
Kudu bulls fall within the "have to hunt" category of the overseas hunter, and therefore the avg going rate for 50" and ovef bulls since last year was in the region of R10k. Trophy these days are also not RW anymore, but a good representative of the species, usually anything from about 2" of minimum for RW entry.

Re: Kudu 48inch +
Morning Guys
We own a farm just outside Lephalale(Ellisras) and our Kudu's under 52 inches went for R4000 and R4500 53 inches and over.Considering there is no day fees where you going and you only have to travel +- one and a half hour I would pay R7000 anyday for a good Kudu bull if the hunt is close to home.If you were to hunt futher away from home you will have to fork out more for fuel, toll fees etc, accomodation and I would then say nothing more than R5000.But then again you know what we hunters are like, sometimes you just bite the bullet and squeeze the trigger to get that trophy bull and worry about the price later!
