This was, for my dad, the most interesting an beautiful little knife at the show.

Cutting competition (unfortunately my camera does crappy in action shots so none of those):

I met some great people at the show that I have wanted to meet for a few years now, limited pictures due to this because I was chatting a lot more then taking crappy pictures. Hope you enjoyed!

Excellent pics!

It brings back many happy memories of the Durban Easter Knife Show. Many of the names are still there (Rob Brown, Peter Bauchop, Trevor Burger etc), but the quality and beauty of the work seems to get better and better!

The only picture I can give you is this one (already posted) but it does not show the great patterns in the blades.

A new project for Kevin, a damascus axe, even the handle is carved from scratch too. I know very little about axes, but Kevin enlightened me on all sorts of aspects eg I never knew it was called 'hanging an axe' - the way it connects to the shaft, angle etc

Some damascus knives I find too fussy, but this little axe is just amazing, looks so much better in reality than these pics.

Yes, that is a python skin hanging there. They are a row of knives that have been through the tests......cutting, cutting and more cutting - then subjected to a 90deg right angle bend.

As for the press and the belt-sanders etc., you guys know far more than I........

This one is 4" Sandvic 19C27 with filework on the thumb-rest. African Black wood (Black Ivory) with white liners. Brass bolsters, pins and thong tube.

Balance, weight and feel are very good and the edge is hair-popping. Very neat and a brilliant fit in the sheath.

The quality has improved significantly over the past year, mainly due to newer and more rigid requirements for members.

Kevin's workshop which you pictured has seen me often. Ive made two blades there under Kevins gaurd (and his hillbilly music in the background).
