    Default mm to Caliber

Is the following conversion correct or can somebody give me a correct one...

mm divided by 25.4 = caliber

    caliber times 25.4 = mm

if you have converter on your phone use that. Select inches and mm. Lets say you want the mm size of .308 then tipe in 0.308 in the inches and you should then get 7.82mm.

Not going to work on a 30-06 unless you remember it was manufactured in 1906.

... would also say calibre relates to the diameter of the gun barrel and has nothing to do with the inch measurement . eg. My pistols calibre is 9mm

Also remember stated caliber is not necessarily true caliber. .30 cal is .308, .303 is .311 (as is 7.62*39 AK), .38 is .357, .44 is .429 etc.

That is mm to inch conversion (or vice versa).

Spot on, the oomies of yesteryear seemed to designate calibre based on something else rather than correct measurement.

bore and land diameter my man. Cant remember which is which now(i am very tired). But i Will try. Lets take the .300win and .303 as examples. The 303 has a land diameter of .303 and a bore diameter of .311 thus it has a bullet diameter of .311. The .300 has a bore diameter of .300 and a land diameter of .308 thus it fires a .308 bullet.

    There's calibre and there's nomenclature.

    .357 is actually .357 x 25.4. .38 Special isn't. .308 Winchester is .308. .303 British is .311. 38-40 if I remember right is .401".

The name of the song is called "Haddocks' Eyes."'

`Oh, that's the name of the song, is it?' Alice said, trying to feel interested.

`No, you don't understand,' the Knight said, looking a little vexed. `That's what the name is called. The name really is "The Aged Aged Man."'

`Then I ought to have said "That's what the song is called"?' Alice corrected herself.

`No, you oughtn't: that's quite another thing! The song is called "Ways and Means": but that's only what it's called, you know!'

`Well, what is the song, then?' said Alice, who was by this time completely bewildered.

`I was coming to that,' the Knight said. `The song really is "A-sitting On A Gate": and the tune's my own invention.'
