    Default Glock 17 - rust ?

    hi peeps

I was cleaning my 17 after a quick range visit and I seem to have located a bit of rust on the slide. Image is attached. It seems to be a thin layer.

This is my oldest pistol (first generation), which I bought second hand. I haven't noticed the rust before, so I am not sure how long it has been there. There is also a little bit around the firing pin.

How much should I be concerned? Should I try and remove using an anti-corrosion agent?

Do I start to panic now? :) Appreciate any help.

What would it be then ? It certainly looks like something we call rust. It can not be the copper stuff they put in new Glocks, gun is too old... please enlighten.

Gizmo, if it is rust you should be able to take a substantial amount of it off with a pencil eraser, funnily enough.

Then find some fireproof rust converter and you should be gtg, unless you want to go all out and Cerakote it.

    Surface oxidation can happen.

Clean it and then apply Eezox. Eezox is a no-bs rust protector for metal.

Well, I got it off with a bit of iron wool. Surface oxidation as they say. Not bad for a 20+ year old gun.
