Lost the Tritium insert of my night sight!

Last night, being home alone and bored, I practiced some draws and aiming etc with my S&W SD9. After a while I turned off the lights and did the same, only to find the usual green dot on my front sight gone.

Checked it, and it would appear that the tritium insert is gone! It must've come out during shooting or carrying. I never tampered with it, so I cannot say why it came loose.

Can this be repaired? Buying a whole new front sight is not ideal, but I really liked the fact that I had a night sight and now it's gone.

First prize would be to get a replacement tritium insert. Second prize would probably be to stick some optic fibre in there. Would this work, or does the whole fibre need to be exposed to be able to gather enough light?

This really sucks, I was childishly proud of my night sight!

While a PITA being across the Big Water from the factory, the lifetime warranty will cover this. Your dealer should be able to get you another for free from S&W (although shipping charges might apply...can't say about that)

In the states you could call them and they would probably put one in the post to you immediately...worst case they would have you send the sight or maybe the slide back for repair / replacement.

Short answer...contact the dealer you bought it from.

Thanks SB. I must admit I (stupidly) did not even think about the S&W Warranty before Ikor reminded me. Will be in contact, I really really appreciate it.
