Johannesburg - A lion attacked a visitor in his car in Lion Park in Lanseria, northwest of Johannesburg, on Friday, paramedics said.

The 28-year-old man suffered a puncture wound to his arm and was in a stable condition in hospital, ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser said.

"He and his wife were at the park for their anniversary when the animal grabbed a hold of his car seat and proceeded to claw her way into the vehicle," said Visser.

"The lioness bit the man on his right forearm before he managed to wrestle her out of the vehicle."

His car window was open at the time.
    The wife was not hurt.

Those lions in that lion park are REALLY aggressive. I was there in 1995 and we had our car attacked by 4 lions, the male lion was leaning over the car from the rear, and the females attacked from the sides, almost like taking down a buffalo. Both side mirrors were knocked flat. I have a photo somewhere of the female lion snarling at me from 6 inches away. I had my 10mm Glock, and if any of the windows got broken, I would have started shooting. It was my brother in law's company car, and they did not believe him at first, it had quite a few bite and scratch marks. It is amazing how much bigger a lion looks close up..

My sister was 9 months pregnant, and she was screaming her head off, trying to hide under the seat - had the baby the next day!

Turns out that the attack was so severe that the guy went to hospital, got the scratches cleaned and then went back to the park and had tea with the staff.
