masters - what guns were used
Most of the IDPA masters have used full sized guns to qualify for this supreme rank.
1. What guns were used?
2. Has any one graded as Master using a compact firearm? Eg. Glock 23

If memory serves me correct I can remember BigT mentioning that it has been done with a G19!

Re: masters - what guns were used
I know of one shooter who attained the rank of master with a G19.
Pretty sure there are a few IPSC shooters who would classify as master with compacts as well. Full size guns will give a small advantage, but the person behind it plays a far bigger role in performance.

Last week while browsing I came across a pdf file for the idpa championships which contained a list of weapons used.
You could perhaps check there. Unfortunately my internet at work is down so I can't provide an address.

Re: masters - what guns were used
if I recall, SA's 1st master did it with his G19... Arno barlow. Stand for correction on the gun tho.
Thorkind... You'll probably manage it with a magazine capacity of 6 rounds

Re: masters - what guns were used
Interestingly enough,we did a little experiment at our club a few weeks ago during a steel Challenge Match. We have been trying to convince 1 of the noobs that while equip does make a difference, shooter skills are still supreme and instead of dropping tons of cash on a tricked out STI he should look at something like a GLock/M&P/Shadow for use in Production Division, hone his skills and then progress on to Standard Division with something like an STI Edge. This dude obviously has more money than brains and was not getting the point!
For fun,we loaned him a tuned STI Edge in 40 that is used by a current Springbok and that same Springbok took my box stock 19[this was before i put on the 2k connector and mag release] and they ran against each other a few times-5 plates at 12m.FA cocked, safety engaged in holster, hands in surrender position to start. The kid got thrashed every time and then he said that the difference in skill level between him and the Springbok was too vast[valid point] so the exercise proved zip.The Springbok then shot 2 runs on the same drill with his STI and 2 runs with my Glock. He was faster with his STI as expected in the 2,8 sec range for the drill but was still managing 3,3-3,5 secs with my glock.Yes,that is an appreciable difference for someone at his level but for a normal club/league shottist 3,5 secs on that drill would be more than acceptable?
IMHO-a 17/22 and 34/35 is more suited than a 19/23 to sport shooting, but in the right hands the compacts will give fantastic results. That said even in the hands of a novice a 19 will do them well and their results will improve to the point of being highly competitive the more they compete and improve on their technique.
just my 2c

Well my plan is to make master with my G19.
If I achieve that I will spoil myself to a G17!!!MOLON LABE
