LYNX LX2 3,5-10x50
Hi Guys,
Any feedback on this scope? Apparently it has a built in range finder as well, does anybody know this scope. Would this be a good scope for a 300win mag?

Re: LYNX LX2 3,5-10x50
I Think it is a range finding reticle. I do however think having a LYNX and a Leupold the Leupold wins. Look out for a Leupold VX1 4-12x50 at VLT Should be somwhere between R3300 and R3500

Would agree wholeheartedly. If you can, do side by side tests with the same scopes from each manufacturer, just do it in the shop and you will find the Leupold brighter and more crisp in IMHO. Thereafter it is a question of economics, can you justify the price and then can you afford the price.

Re: LYNX LX2 3,5-10x50
I had to buy a new scope short while ago... I wanted to get the leupold VX 1, and compared the VX1 3-9 with a few others that the shop had... I second what the guys say, the Leupolds are very good.
But... I saw Lynx in a another shop, was very nice,, I dont have facts, but I often chat rifles, etc, with people, and I am sure that in the past few months I heard people complaining about Lynx... I cant remember the story, but is there anybody with NEW/ Lynx scopes that can tell us if you are happy? I have very old Lynx, and I cant complain about it.. But some people are not happy with the new Lynx scopes....
Are there anyone that can agree/ or disagree?

Re: LYNX LX2 3,5-10x50
I don't think there is anything wrong with Lynx scopes, I do think that to some degree you get what you pay for. So when comparing scopes one must make sure that you do compare like on like and price range on price range.
I was perhaps unfair as I had a look through the Lynx LX2 4.5 - 14X40mm AO and the Leupold VX3 4.5 - 14X40mm AO. The Leupold was nearly twice the price and was better, for that price it should have been. If on a stricter budget I would not have been unhappy with the Lynx. I do not think that one has the time to use all the features of that fancy reticle, it sounds great but download the manual on how to use the reticle, it is quiet a rigmarole. Had I not done the side by side test I could have taken the Lynx.
I had an old Lynx loan scope 3 - 9X42mm, did not like it, parallax was bad and clarity not good. For example, I could not see many holes (.308 diameter) in the target at 100m and had to use a seperate spotting scope. With my VX3 I no longer take the spotting scope to the range when at 100m.
The Leupold's are noted for being more robust and perhaps might handle recoil better.
Cheers

Evening All
Just to add another question into the mix as I am also looking at a scope for my new rifle. How would the Nikon Monarch 2.5-10X50 Bdc at R4,500 compare?

There is a Leupold VX3 under the classified here for R 5 000. That may be worth a look.
