Skateboard tape IDPA legal

Just make sure before I go ahead.

Is it IDPA legal to put skateboard tape on my grip and as a thumb index?

Was pushing myself a bit yesterday and after getting a bit sweaty my left thumb started moving around a bit so wanna try the tape.

SSP legal, as far as I recall.

According to the Bible skateboard tape is a permitted modification for SSP and BUG.

Ja, the BOOK(page 20 or 21) only refers to skateboard tape as being legal in SSP. ''Point 3 - slip-on sock or skateboard tape may be used.''

From the rules, I interpret as: they are refering only to the frame/grip. Not on the slide, slide stop, trigger face, saftey or magazine base plate.

How do you make that interpretation? That you can only use skateboard tape on the grip / frame. Just askin'.

Sorry, BUG too, under Pistols 2. C. BUG is a nice to have but really doesn't get enough exposure so I've never memorised that part of the gospel - don't get me wrong tho - BUG has a place, but rare and non-competative so unfortunately not a lot of interest from what I've experienced.

My interpretation is that skateboard tape is mentioned in the same sentence at slip-on sock - under SSP & BUG PISTOLS, so I'm going with around or on back strap & front strap of the grip/frame. Altho the BOOK doesn't say it can't be used anywhere else ie. my 1st reply, there will be confusion and a huge debate if tape is used anywhere else on the pistol. But, at this stage the BOOK doesn't say you can't so, by definition, maybe you can.

How would you interpret that particular rule ? Also just askin'.

ESP as well. Can't see anyone complaining about a bit of squirrel tape on the slide, especially since it is not specifically mentioned.

Feel free to wall paper with tape if you like!
Rule book does not specify on the grip only.
How much competion advantage do you really get by putting on slide or mag base plate?
