Blue wildebeest cow shot this weekend near Swartruggens, NW.
Carcass weight 92kg. Shot at 146m, 308win, 168gr Barnes Vortx.
Saturday close to 30km walking without seeing much Wildebeest,Sunday morning another couple of Km walking before coming across a heard of wildebeest. Stalked and waited for 20 minutes before being able to take a shot. Did close to 40km walking. There were many opportunities on other game this weekend but not much on wildebeest.

Well done on your perseverance, and then the patience to wait the 20 minutes after all of that!

Congratulations! That must have felt fantastic given the work you put in. Not quite the same as sitting in the back of a bakkie and being chauffeured into range of a shot.

Thank you. It was well worth the wait. I prefer the walking, find I learn more each time, feel better and really enjoy just being out in the bush. What’s funny is the game you are looking for you have difficulty finding and those that you are not looking for you will find aplenty with close and easy shots.

The satisfaction, after the work put in, is well deserved.

I have a firm belief that the "other animals" know full well they're not on the menu, and then come out to taunt you

MohamedD, I'm sure you did a long walk last season as well, Blesbuck if I remember correctly. Well good going anyway. Nice Blue that.

Thank you. That’s correct. Last year was a long walk as well. Each year it’s getting longer, but I really enjoy it. The mornings and late afternoons are the best part.
