In Afrikaans we call this "die pronk" of a springbok, dunno what the English folk calls it, it remains for a very limited time after a kill.
For those in the know it's got a very particular smell as well:

I've seen it referred to as the "fan" and also the "crest". To me it smells like honey.

    Nice pic.

The second part of its scientific name, Antidorcas Marsupialis, refers to the pocket like fold on its back that opens up to create the pronk.

545m, clearly a poor stalker, the camo silencer shroud clearly offered no assistance
One too many wasted sunsets and one too many for the road .........

I'm use to the bush doing stalking and shots of 80 - 150m

Guys whose gun it is, adjusted Turret for moa so it's on 550m and I had to really compensate for a cross wind, about half a meter to the right

It hit vitals and one could see the fall/drop of the bullet already entering higher than the low exiting wound, quiet amazing to see this

As it it, she dropped immediately in the scope and I initially thought it was a high shot through the back, never got back up and was actually spot on

A weekend hunt opportunity basically fell into my lap so I used it to take this ram on day one. All credit to the Ram who made it hard work. Possibly one of the three toughest hunts I’ve been on.
