    Thumbs up SUAREZ/TSD Combat Knife

I am a fan of the Draw Point or P'Kal knife defense system (as taught by Southnark/ShivWorks and others) because it is imo the fastest deployment and into action gross motor skill kiss knife system when used in the fixed blade and kydex sheath set-up.

Gabe Suarez designed a knife that will be available commercially in quantity (afaik) that will fit perfectly into the draw point knife system.

    Picture and text from TSD/Suarez.

    SUAREZ/TSD Combat Knife

The Grab N Stab knife is an offensive concept blade. The graphic name describes its use and application. You grab, you stab, repeat as necessary. There is a purity in the simplicity that is untarnished by the concept of martial arts. The Grab N Stab is made for proactive/aggressive knife fighting. It is the quintessential small combat knife. Its use is paleolithic - intuitive. No art or clever knife drills are needed, just aggression, violence, and a point.
The blade, a modified Wharncliffe is designed to puncture well. But more, it is designed to cut as it penetrates. The carefully designed handle facilitates saber grip, ice pick grip, edge in, edge out, any edge any place, any time, any grip.....and for stabbing...it will support your grip as you stab into a ballistic vested dummy, or a wooden stabbing post. If you want a soft cushy grip on your knife....this is not for you. This grip is hard anodized aluminum with the same texture we put on our TSD pistols. Its designed to stay in your hand . Those who know how slippery blood can be will appreciate it the moment they touch it.Specifications*Overall Length (inches): 8.25*Blade Length (inches): 3.95*Blade Material: 01 Tool Steel, Black Oxide, 59-60 RC*Blade Detail: GNS Blade Profile,*Handle Material: Hard Anodized Aluminum With TSD grip Texture*Carry System: Black Kydex Sheath (Tek-Lock)

Maybe we can get Gerald (Wolverine QTG) to pre-order and get some of these.

i am not a knife guy so excuse my ignorance. But it appears as though the cutting edge is facing up (meaning towards your thumb) instead of down todards where your fingers wrap around. Wont it be easier to cut your thumb this way? Not sure if I am doing it right but when I grab a knife I press down with my thumb opposite to where my other fingers wrap around.

No it does not - cutting edge is opposite side to the thumb ramp.

Check out P'kal and/or Draw Point knife system and you will understand the grip (which does not utilise the thumb ramp anyway) and my post better.

It's done so with reason. When holding it in a reverse grip the blade faces your forearm, rather than the traditional away from the arm. Think of it like holding a pen in your fist, pointing out from the pinky side of your fist. Now stab, and pull your arm towards you again. This is where this knife then slices after having stabbed.

This is probably the first fixed blade knife that I really want.

I saw in January 2010 what must have been one of the first prototypes. It is a good thing that Suarez took over the design and is making it commercially available. I for one will surely buy one.
