    Default Springfield M1903

I can get one of these and was contemplating it for "Highpower Rifle".Initial forum search came up empty....

Picked it up,fondled it,and despite the slightly battered stock showing her years, she's wants to go home with me...

What would/should I expect to pay? What to look out for? Anyone here own one, other opinions? The gunsmith thats got it seems to think its gtg.Being an American service rifle from back in the day,I'm tickled by the history and the "how it got to SA",etc?(She's competing with a SMLE that will have a no4 sister....)

    Any advise appreciated,thx!

I can't tell you much except that I'd jump all over that.

If the smith has checked it and you're happy barrel and chamber are gtg then there is nothing stopping you.

What does he want for it?

The traumatic part of the w/end was playing with a very recently deceased "broomhandle",despite the gunsmith best efforts the owner refused to sell/budge and its now a de-ac..

    Ruined an otherwise nice w/end!

Check out your 1903 serial number. It is important.

This is from the US civilian marksmanship program.
