    Default ckrt and smith &wesson

i was wondering where are ckrt and smith&wesson knifes made? I have a swith &wesson folder that i sumtimes carry but the blade is half serated and this puts me off as my knifes work hard and to sharpen it is a bitch. I have been looking at a ckrt folder folder to replace my coldsteel ti-lite. Wat is the overal feeling on ckrt knifes?

By "ckrt" do you mean "Columbia River Knife and Tool"?

If so, they are great value in my book. I have several.

I have a crkt fixed blade. Asked Swattie whilst on course if he thought they were a good brand for SD. He was ok with it. :)

Looking for a decent non-leather belt now.

i like the quick oppening lever thingy like i had on my ti-lite. R550 is a good price i think and i wil be getting 150 off. The ti-lites go 4 700-800 these days

From a SD point of view I would prefer to go with Benchmade or some of the Spyderco knives that have a more reliable locking mechanism (I am NOT a fan of liner locks!), but I must say that I think CRKT offer a great value for money option and the bonus is that they are available locally ...

The auto LAWKS is about as strong as you are going to get, lock wise.

CRKT, Taiwan. It says so on the blade. S&W, who knows. My guess would be somewhere where the sun rises first.

They work. They are GREAT value for money. They are innovative. They are strong. I have several CRKT's plus other makes. The only blade, thus far, that has ever failed on me was a Gerber with a back-lock. I like liner-locks more than back-locks, frame or stud locks. The CRKT's LAWKS & auto-LAWKS are the strongest and safest locking mechanism that I've ever seen on a folder!

    Made in China perhaps?

Made in the East is not always a bad thing. Cold Steel and some Benchmade's are made there.
