How do you clean the barrel of a PCP?
So? What say the experts?
I bought a PCP (Air Arms S410) recently. The manual says to clean it after every 250 pellets or so.
These VFG felt pellets are available - and you shoot some down the barrel. Do you apply anything to the felt pellets before shooting then through the barrel.
Seems stripping the air rifle down to clean from the "chamber" side is a schlep.
One PCP shooter suggested using some fishing line to pull a patch through from the chamber side.
Any suggestions?

In the end of the day its just an airgun. The fishing line and patch with some spirits or pure alchahol is good enough. And if your accuracy is not decreasing then you dont need to clean, its just lead going through the barrel. Forget about those felt pellets.

Not crazy about pull throughs in any barrel. One way to stuff up the crown of the barrel = accuracy drop.

Stick to decent pellets like JSB, AA etc - barrel seems to stay cleaner longer.
I only cleaned every 3/4 tins min. - just one or two patches pulled through. I used swabs you buy at the chemist that has rubbing alcohol. (ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL)
With my sprinter (TX200) I only cleaned after almost a year of shooting. (That about min. tin a month = 6000 pellets)
Just make sure when you clean the patch is not too wet. Best to turn rifle upside down to help prevent excess run into port etc.

Re: How do you clean the barrel of a PCP?
Be careful... air rifle barrels are much softer than that of a firearm. Do not use copper brushes, it will damage the rifling. The felt pellets work well; take three or four at a time and shoot it through. I normally oil the felt pellets on the first shot and then keep on shooting until they come out clean on the other side.
It is worth doing after every 75-100 shots on my Steyr … grouping goes off if you keep on shooting much longer before cleaning.

Shi-ite - I shot thousands of pellets through my dads Gecado 25 without thinking of cleaning. Did not know about the procedure.
