Default Appeal: Action shooting to be banned in the Netherlands - help stop it.

All forms of action shooting are soon to be banned in the Netherlands. See below an appeal by Saul Kirsch, as distributed by SAPSA. I think all of us, IPSC, IDPA, etc., should take notice. You could have a domino effect if this spreads from the Netherlands to other EU countries. Could it eventually reach the the Southern Hemisphere and endanger the legitimacy of our various sports and of our firearms. Please support Saul Kirsch's appeal:

Urgent - Your Action is Needed Now! 30 March, 2012
Dear fellow IPSC shooters and friends,

As many of you have heard already, IPSC shooting (in fact all Dynamic shooting disciplines) are about to be prohibited in the Netherlands!
This new law will be voted on in a matter of weeks, and if it passes - will mean the end of our sport in Holland, and who knows - this decision may well spread quickly across the EU.

As you can imagine, the NPSA (the Dutch IPSC organization) is mobilizing every possible resource to fight this unjust proposed law, but it is a desperate battle. The odds are stacked against us.

    We need your help!

There is a petition being signed (online) which will be submitted along with other material as we try to make our case for our sport.
You can help by going online and signing this petition. The more signatures we have, the better.
Please also take a moment to forward this email to anyone you can think of who could generate more signatures, your shooting range, your club, your federation, your local gunsmiths who may be able to send it on to their mailing list. Post it online on any website you have access to.
We want to show that IPSC is a serious sport, with thousands of participants worldwide.

Please take a minute to log onto this site:

    - Enter your email address

Many thanks for your participation in our fight.

I'm wearing a T-Shirt I bought in Cody, sez "If God had wanted us to be vegetarians He would have made broccoli more fun to shoot at". At the world silhouette shoot today a Dutchman remarked that he would never dare wear a T like this in the Netherlands.

Slippery slope, it is. And once you're on it you'll find the brakes are fsck hard to apply.

    Our cause

On the 28th of March 2012 the Dutch Minister of the department of Safety and Justice announced that he
signed an agreement with the Royal Dutch Shooters Association (KNSA). In this agreement it is stated
that the Dynamic Shooting disciplines Dynamic Service Rifle (DSR) and International Practical Shooting
Confederation (IPSC) are to be banned from sport shooting as it is in the Netherlands.
This also entails that all firearms associated with these disciplines will (eventually) be banned as well.
The Minister justifies this by using the examples of the shootings in Alphen aan de Rijn
    (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alphen_..._mall_shooting) and the well-
know tragedy on Utoya, Norway. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Norway_attacks)

The Minister finds that these disciplines could "provide skills to a solistic threat, also known as a
"Lone Wolf", and calls these disciplines "combat training".
We, as a community of 40000 strong, feel that we are being demonized in our sport by our goverment
and media. We may be a minority in Europe but we feel we have a right to practice our SPORT.
We feel that we are the victim of misinformed politicians and biased media.

Our cause is to be heard as law-abiding citizens.

All well and all friend... But I don't live in the Netherlands, and it doesn't concer me?
    Well... it might!

In these times of globalization and a unified Europe it's only a matter of time that freedoms and
rights are stripped under the guise of "security"
    You CAN do something.
    You can sign!

Well, he is right. It *is* combat training. In the same way archery is; fencing is; javelin is; and karate is, to mention only a few and all of which are also soloistic skills.

These guys really need a English petition site as well, so that they can get the English speaking world on-board as well.
