    Default Occasional Sports Licence

firstly apologies if this is duplicating another thread but I did not want to piggy back lv29

Ok, I now am in the position to step into the darkside by joining the........."tupperware brigade" 8)

I am going to licence for occasional sport shooting. Is it a requirement to be a member of a shooting association? if so which associations?

I dont want to join a club in the cape because my actuall address is in pretoria and I will be back there by november.

    any suggestions?

    thank you guys lv29

As far as I know you have to join a club for occasional sport. You have to attend a few club shoots per year to show that you are active.

Do some IDPA and/or IPSC. More info on IDPA by checking out www.sadpa.co.za. There should be a club in your area.

Apart form IDPA, I also joined my local shooting club.

The more the better as far as licensing motivation goes, but that should be good. From what I have heard you really need to be a member of a sporting club.

so can I participate in the cape and use the papers from the club here to motivate for my firearm when im back in pretoria come the end of the year?

Yes. Join SADPA down in the Cape and shoot a competition or two. This will motivate you 'occational' side. Joining SADPA has two parts. The one part is the club fee and the ather part is the SADPA fee. The SADPA fee remains the same for everybody all over the country. If you move during the year to another club you do not have to pay that money again. When you move back to Pretoria you can go and shoot as a 'visitor' and when the new year arrives join the club in Pretoria.

Bitchboy, we are shooting IDPA the 23rd at Kraaifontein again.

Would you be able to obtain a permission slip from your Minister of Public Affairs to join us?

If you ask nicely, I'll let you shoot the Star.

    Kisses.

as far as i know you dont have to join a club ito of the law but it wil help you alot if you do. Sadpa also gives you a endorsament to help you "prove" that the pistol is suitabil for matches. Hope to see you in pta, i am a member op pdpc as you know. Just waiting for my licence to start shooting. So i am a rather inactive pdpc member. As i understand it if you are a sadpa member you can shoot anywhere but at your club you wil have to pay 60rand where the pdpc members shoot for free.
