Nope. Somewhere it needs the image tags, not sure if they work with dropbox.

Re: Show me your Musgrave
Hey guys
Just picked this .30-06 up on an online auction here in NZ.
Very chuffed as have always wanted a Musgrave.
Haven’t got my hands on it yet, hopefully by the end of the week
Was wondering if anyone could identify the model and approx year of manufacture?
Can get some more detail photos when it arrives.
Cheers

Re: Show me your Musgrave
My guess is that it was a custom or semi-custom build. the stock seems reminiscent of the Plesier-Mauser style (actually, only the flats on the sides below the action... not the rest, which looks thoroughly modern), which Musgrave made commemorative copies of.
There's no way to link dates to serial numbers. the SP (going by the nomenclature used on the Ambidex) could mean "Superior" model. the low numerical number is what makes me think it's a custom job. But really, most of this is guesswork and speculation.
Why not try to get in touch with the Pretoria Arms and Ammunition collectors, they definitely have expertise on Musgraves.

Show me your Musgrave
Cheers Pirate
Yes, I am thinking you are correct.
From the research I have been doing, (until 3:30 this morning) I am thinking that it is a German sporting rifle (most likely Sauer as the Sauer action post dates the war and the stock design is near identical to some others I have found) that has made its way to SA. At some point it has been sent to Musgrave for a re-barrel and refurbishment and then subsequently made its way to NZ.
Was thinking the SP could also just be for Springfield as it follows the 3006?
Will look up Pretoria arms, have also posted on the Musgrave FB page to see if they have any info.
We also have a Musgrave expert gunsmith here in NZ about an hours drive from me (Cobus Calitz) so I might take it in to him to see what he thinks.
If it isn’t a genuine Musgrave manufactured rifle it actually is quite a good thing as I bought it initially wanting to use as a base for a 9.3x62 but then got worried it might have some collector value, but if it doesn’t then it will make a superb medium bore!!

Re: Show me your Musgrave
Look, I dont think you need to doubt that it's a "genuine Musgrave". building rifles using existing actions was a large part of the business. that's definitely a Musgrave barrel. it was also reproofed, as s evident by the SA proof marks (springbok horns in shield) ob both the barrel and the action).
