The 'RSA' action was developed for competitions. The lock time is a lot shorter than original Mauser actions. The biggest difference from production actions is the the fact that the action is much more rigid. Instead of having two plates on the sides of the action, keeping the back of the action and the breech face/locking lugs in line, it is machined out of a solid bar covering the total area around the bolt, bar the loading opening. This means there are no magazine.

This improvement is debated strongly for years, but it keeps the bolt perfectly in line, with the pressure from the cartridge on the bolt head. More importantly it can not bend as the Mauser and other actions due to the weight of the barrel, barrel oscillations when shooting and with bad mounting in the stock.

Is it good, I think so.

No, its not the Model 80 action. I have the Musgrave Model 80 in .30-06. You say its "custom built"? Well, it is not impossible for a good gunsmith to add a magazine to the action.

Almost 100% sure it is a RSA that was cut for a magazine and opened ejection port. I have 2 Std. RSA Bisley rifles and they look exactly the same “minus the custom”, also a friend of mine has a custom build like your rifle in .243
