Thread: IPSC Mini Rifle

    Default IPSC Mini Rifle

IPSC Mini rifle - Will Sapsa adopt this division?
Cheap ammo and possibly a more cost effective
way to get into 3 Gun.

It is in the rule-book as a recognised division, so it must follow that they will surely? We apply by IPSC rules, unlike the Americans, who always have to do things differently :-D

Rules pertaining to "minimum participants" aside... If there is enough interest I don't see why not.

    Hi

As a club we are driving this! We have a few members who have the right rifles due to other sporting disciplines.....
I'm hoping SAPSA will accept it on their next meeting, and issue endorsements.
We had a club tournament and it was well supported watch this space!

plus one to Doubletap those are sound reasons for this division, and youngsters are easily trained about rifle handling.

I'm also hoping. It does make sense. The cost of SLR's is a factor for alot of people wanting to enter the sport. Ammo even more so. There are a few of us at our club who don't mind sharing equipment, but with .223's cost of ammo is often to high for others to compete. This makes sense.

I will be watching this space for sure ...

A nice little M4 in .22 would be pretty sweet, and something I can train the kids on as well.

    Necropost !!

What's happening? I paid for a semi auto .22 last week only to receive a mail today from SAPSA that the minimum rifle cal that they will endorse is .223 ???????

Wanted to use it for training for 3-gun and "mini rifle". Our club had a mini rifle shoot in April.

(AFAIK) SAPS policy on semi-auto rifles : no endorsement, no license. Looks like SAPSA screwed me.

This is copied from the FIREARMS ENDORSED BY SAPSA FOR IPSC SHOOTING email sent a while ago. Just remember to say Mini rifle and not Rifle
    MINI RIFLE
    OPEN AND STANDARD
    Calibers: .22LR
    Manufacturers: Any
Special conditions: Detachable magazine with minimum capacity of 5 rounds is recommended as per Appendix D.
No minimum magazine capacity is stipulated in Rulebook, but special motivation needed for single shot rifles.
Must comply to Section 5.1 and Appendix D of MR Rules. Pm your email adress then I'll fwd it to you. Mine passed without any problem.

That's really weird since SAPSA have supposedly accepted Mini Rifle as an event and even have Mini Rifle shoots on their calendar. I have recently re-joined SAPSA and one of the reasons was specifically for Mini. I already have a rifle and am hoping my club will start shooting this event.
