Glock 22 Gen 4 VS Glock 17
Hi everyone! I need some help deciding on whether to buy a glock 22 or 17 for IDPA. I've read countless numbers of threads regarding the glock 22 and 17 and all is positive but im concerned of the use of .40 ammo in terms of costs.
(1)Is 9mm compared to .40 less expesive to shoot at both matches and practice sessions or versa vice and is there some way one can actually reload your own ammo in .40 and still beat 9mm costs ratio.
(2) Is lead reloads the way to go with .40 ammo used in a glock for matches and practice sessions
I have not yet had the oppertunity to shoot either the glock 22 or 17 but already know i'll opt for the glock 22.
Can someone please assist me in making the correct choice or revert me to IDPA/Glock veterans who know what its all about.

9 is cheaper to run.
There is no advantage to running 40 in IDPA
please don't shoot lead in your GLOCK

Re: Glock 22 Gen 4 VS Glock 17
There are CMJ's available for .40 and I would not go the lead route. Reloading for .40 leaves little room for error and bad things happen if you don't pay attention (can be said for all calibres but .40 is particularly unforgiving). 9x19 is cheaper but you will have to see whether or not it makes that much of a tangible difference to your pocket. If you're set on .40, you can certainly download and soften your ammo for IDPA but then you may as well just get the 9x19. A G17 would make more sense for the sport.

Agree with BigT. For IDPA, get a 9mm ... for the same reasons (ammo cost)

Wow, that a very nice gesture Craig!
I use the 22 for IDPA, also agree with BigT, 17 is prob more suitable for the sport, mainly with the slight cost difference in ammo. it adds up after a while of 200 rd purchases at a time.
enjoy the shoot if you go!
PS. stay away from lead, ive learnt the hard way..

Do you guys ever reload 9mm for matches or do you strictly use factory loads.
