    Default Crush Washer woes...

Just a note of caution - do not re-use a crush washer when fitting a flash hider or comp (especially a comp) on a semi auto rifle like an AR.

If you re-use it on a flash hider and the fh gets unlocked from the crush washer and starts to unthread itself nothing major will most probably happen before you realise that it has come undone.

With a comp the results will most probably be damage to the comp before you realise it has come undone.

Yes there is - no damage luckily - I learned that torque does not make up for the crush washer that has already been crushed once.

It will not hold a comp - it may hold a fh but it is not worth it to take chance.

Ric, Maybe do a close up pic and I can most probably tell from that. You can send to my e-mail if you want.

Ric , from the pics you sent it shows that your rifle has a crush washer installed.Without the use of a crush washer the fh would very likely loosen itself and it would be virtually impossible to correctly align the fh upright and at the same time get it torqued to a level that would keep it on the barrel for some time.
