    Default Competancy Validity period

There was a thread or posts on the subject but after 10 minutes I can still not find it, so please help again.

What is now the current fact about expiry dates of competency certificates. I have a competency that expires early 2013 (after 5 years of issue). I have a SD license that expires 2017 and OSS licenses that expire in 2018.

Do I need to renew my competency in 2013 or not?

    Thank you

Nope, competency runs with the FA license.

I would speak to your DFO to get clarity.

Really? With each DFO having their own opinions and interpretations.

That is why I am asking. I don't want the DFO knocking on my door to confiscate my FA because my competency is outdated. The card states it is expiring in 2013. Then maybe oneday a roadblock looms, what then? But now I am hijacking my own thread. Back to OP please.

You don't need to carry your competency certificate. Only your license. My understanding is that competency expires upon expiration of your last fa license, in your case 2018.

You will see your competency printout has an issue date and no expiry date, unlike the old competency cards.

Ask for a new printout next time you at your DFO.
