    Default .303 Ammo Question

    Hi guess

I plan on getting a Lee-Enfield in the not to far future.
I was wondering how available is ammo, and also how expensive is it?

    Good day.
PMP manufactures .303 ammunition in 150gr and 174gr. The ammo is quite readily available and you should be able to get it at about R320 for 20 rounds.

Its more expensive then .308 rather get yourself a brand new .308 and save yourself from all the issues with the .303.
.308 is the most cost effective 30 caliber available

I find 303 brass very easily from Camdix / Hotpower (Krugersdorp). It is better in my opinion to load yourself should you go with 303 as you do not really get premium ammo for 303. Highland ammo for 303 is also readily available from gun shops.

I love my 303 Lee Enfield! You can find PMP ammo for around R340 for 20. I see Southern Arms got 303 150gr PMP ammo for R300 on their website.

I love mine aswell, hunted with standard PMP ammo this year and had no problems.

Love my 303 SMLE No4 Mk2 as well. I reload for it and the costs would then be about the same as any 308/30-06/270 etc...
Ammo is not a problem for the 303 Brit. New cases are about R10 each, but can be reloaded multiple times.

Thanks for the replies guys. The Lee-Enfields might not be the best boltguns out there, but they have a rich history which I fancy.
