issue relating to competency, please help...

I have done handgun and rifle competency training and submitted these certificates to the police to issue me my competency certificate.

I would like to buy a shotgun, now I know I will have to go to a training institute and do the exams and prac etc but now do i need to submit this to the police aswell? I mean its taken a year and I havent gotten my rifle and handgun competency yet! will it be the same story in terms of waiting time for the shotgun competency? surely if im competent with rifle and handgun I cant not be with a shotgun (provided that I pass the comp training and exams.)

or will it just be a QUICK matter of updating on the system before I can apply for a shotgun licence?

Sorry bud, will be at least 9 months for the new competency to come through :P I'm in the same boat md217 on the bright(ish) side I've been told that new applications are being given priority so quite possibly we'll get our shotty licences before our renewals hpy194
