Meprolight sights for a pre-B CZ5

I bought a pair of Meprolight sights for a CZ75. What I didn't realize was that these are only manufactured for a CZ75 B, while mine is a pre-B.
Thus my CZ needs stake on front sights while these Meprolights are a dovetail front sight.

It was suggested to me that I get a dovetail machined into my slide and I would be willing to do that, however the gunsmith to whom I took the gun for this to be done says there isn't enough metal thickness at that point in the slide to do this.

Does anyone have another idea how I could do this?

Go to another gunsmith - I had dovetail fibre optic front sight fitted no problem!!
