Re: HOWA Rifles
The 375 Ruger is ballistically slightly better in FPS however the relative difficulty in finding brass at the moment is a PITA! And dont even think of factory ammo!

Re: HOWA Rifles
Check out an article in Magnum magazine December 2010 edition by Koos Barnard. Nice pics and review...
I own a Howa in 270. I am very happy with the performance of this rifle. The recoil is a little more than I expected. I would not go for a bigger caliber than 30-06 with the synthetic stock due to the recoil.... Best value for money. My next rifle will be a Howa in 22-250.

Jeebus!
Talk about necropost...a thread with comments by pietskiet from 2008!
I personally think it is very difficult to beat Howa's package at anywhere near their price point either in SA or the states. Even the guys who are 'rifle snobs' and use only high line reworked custom Mauser sporters, etc. all give the Howas two thumbs up for a using rifle.
JMO but if choosing a hunting rifle for my one and only, I'd likely go with .308. Hard to beat for an all 'rounder, and in a pinch can fire surplus ammo. Get decent glass...good quality 2x7 or 3x9...maybe even 1.5x5 if close range is your game.
Remember, a scope does not make you shoot better...it only lets you see better.Run Fast, Bite Hard!

Re: HOWA Rifles
Now I am in the market for a howa too.... :-). Looking at the bull barrel and maybe an exiom stock. Anything like that around SA? I will give Camdix a call tomorrow. It is my understanding they are the cheapest :-D. Cheap and quality in the same sentence? Sounds good to me! Ah.... strange creatures we are... this money was supposed to go to.... can't remember... oh yes... a howa rifle :-D
