    It might be better closer, if you are trying to look through the tube like it's a scope. Red dots work just fine out at full arms length on pistols. I just don't see it being enough of a problem to switch from a fixed railed gas tube mount to a moving / hinged dustcover that might get some play in it at some point.

    unfortunately I don't have my own machines but my boss is kind enough to let me do a private job or two every now and again on our cnc's at work.

    I have to agree with you here P2W I pick the dot up with no issues at all and having it a little further also helps prevent "tunnle vision" IMO.

    Except when your eyes aren't 20/20 and you're running a 2MOA dot. Closer is better IMHO.

    Ultimak gas tube rail and the RS Regulate side mount rail still seem to be the Gold standard for AK optic mount options.
