Re: Knife Sharpening
Go buy a nice thick leather belt from Woolies or wherever. It's what I use to strop my knives - hook the buckle around my big toe, pull with my hand and swipe the blade across. Like the jean (use to use jeans myself, but stopped after giving myself a nice cut on my leg), but faster and a lot more effective. Also nice to remember if you're busy skinning a hunted animal and your knife just needs that little extra buff in a second.

Re: Knife Sharpening
I use a catering sharper (Polisher) it a long metal rod. In essence what it does is polish the knife more than sharpen it. This way it does not destroy the blade and my knife is always razor sharp. I have absolutely no clue about the lansky and other sharpeners as I was taught this way and it works for me so excuse my ignorance on other methods.

Re: Knife Sharpening
I didn't wear it, I just pulled it tightly over my leg to give a nice surface on which to scrape the burr off the blade. The blade cut through four layers of Mr. Price's finest, through a pair of my favourite shorts and made a nice, clean, 3cm incision in my left leg. Bled like crazy, and I had to toss my shorts! That Kershaw was sharp as hell though...

Re: Knife Sharpening
Did you toss your shorts due to the blood stain or the "skrik"?

Re: Knife Sharpening
I put it on a few weeks later and my big toe got hooked in the hole. I tore open most of the leg, so then is when I tossed it! :P
I'm not scared of blood or "skrik". I think I'm the person who've cut myself most of all with my knives in my lifetime. I can't even count, and it keeps happening. Doesn't bother me either, it's not really that painful and it just bleeds for a while.
